Charleroi is a post-industrial city in the south of Belgium. What is it like, to live in a city like that? What does that do to your freedom and your sense of freedom? Is freedom there, still as celebrated, as it is in the rest of the 'West'? Or, does freedom become like a stone around your neck, when there are no alternatives left and society seems to have abandoned you? These questions where leading Raemansky, in the development of the Charleroi serie and led to atmospheric images such as Charleroi - Rasta.
